Service Description

Workshops geared towards adults ages 16+ All 7 classes included in registration, regardless of missed classes. Learn to use primitive and modern tools for the art of flint knapping: an ancient survival skill that humans have used throughout the ages. Students (with some knapping experience, or beginners) will dive into different aspects of knapping each meeting and take home their work. Instruction, Rock and tools provided. There will be lecture, demo, and practice portions to each meeting. Meeting 1: Bifacing; turning a rock into a 2-sided worked blank Meeting 2: Spalling large rock Meeting 3: Indirect persussion & Ishi stick use Meeting 4: Paleo design Meeting 5: Large pieces & end shock Meeting 6: Heat treatment Meeting 7: Using jigs & fluting We provide the tools and materials needed for this course. BYO knapping supplies and rocks/rock questions if you like! Once enrolled, we will email you what to bring, waivers, location, and other info needed for this course in the weeks before class begins.

If we are able to fill your spot after your cancellation, a future class credit will be issued. If Nighthawk cancels a whole course, participants will be credited for a future course if rescheduling isn't possible. Partial course cancellations/adjustments/reschedules due to inclement weather, etc. are not typically credited.
